OSCAR WEEK RE-CAP

Hello world and welcome to Markus is the Drug. This week has been a crazy party week. So I've been a little slow pumping out the dish. Oops! So let me share with you some of the highlights in my week starting with Tuesday. Ferras played an amazing show at the Viper Room. If you haven't heard Ferras' music yet I suggest you give his MySpace page a visit. Trust me, you wont be disappointed.

Wednesday
W Magazine Celebrates The Academy Awards at the Sunset Towers. This particular party was great because I ran into a lot of my New York crowd. It just seemed to be the perfect kick off to what was going to be a crazy fun Oscar week. Chateau Marmont was the last stop and for good reason. You didn't need to go anywhere else. Ample amounts of champagne and a chocolate fountain is all I need for a party. Oh yes and a lil Karlifornia. Yes y'all I ran into my favorite MTV host Karli. Who busted some crazy Beyonce style dance move with Adrian Grenier.

Thursday
Art of Elysium party at the Beverly Hills Hotel. This was my kind of party. 1940's Old Hollywood. The Stars went all out (and how could you not). Among my favorites were:

Demi Moore looking very old Hollywood Glam in this amazing Roberto Cavalli gown

Kate Hudson
in Christian Dior a satin, off-the-shoulder gown but the hair I wasn't too crazy about;

Charlize Theron was breath taking in this sheer Christian Dior gown with just a simple amount of jewelry...she looked Divine;

Rumer Willis
, in what was my favorite dress of the evening, was wearing her favorite, J Mendel, and looked beautiful.

Some looks I really didn't care for though:

Rachel Zoe
scares me and that's all I have to say about that;

Molly Sims
let me down with this bad Katy Rodriguez Dress;

Salma Hayek bored me with this Alexander McQueen dress and a bad necklace, which I'm sure she only wore because it was free. That's all about that night. You're Welcome.

Friday Night

This was my big hang out night with fellow hero... Shaaaannoooon. We went to Teddy's. Nothing too crazy and at this point my liver is like, not one more ounce to drink. Eeeks! Sorry liver.

Saturday
I really wanted to rest this night but my friend Director Andrew Gallery called and said that he wanted to get a table at Green Door I said OK well maybe one or two drinks. Ha Ha four bottles later and a quick last minute stop at Hyde turned into a headache for Markus in the morning.

Finally... Oscar Sunday
Yes the big day was here but oh no, I really over did it the night before. So I knew the day was going to be rough. I sent out an SOS to Shannon who really turned out to be the hero of the day when she rescued me and took me to lunch at my favorite Joan's on Third. After a quick and much needed bite to eat I went back to bed for a quick re-coop session. 7:30, Jared Craft texts "Chateau Marmont 8pm". I dash to my closet for a tuxedo jacket and a bow tie. Yes I'm ready! We didn't stay at the Chateau long because we quickly made our way over to the Mercedes-Benz Oscar party at the Four Seasons. That's where I bumped into, for like the 10th time this week, my new favorite New Yorker Josh Katz.

You know where we went next. HYYYYYYYYYDE! I even tricked, I mean begged, Katy P to come meet me and she did and then we did and we left to meet our very very good friend Mia Moretti who was having a celebration of her own. Her birthday that is. It didn't take me long to realize I jumped on that party train about 45 minutes to late. Oops. Did someone say Prince was having a Party? Yes Please! So off to what seemed like the Oregon Trail up to Prince's house. Now this was the party y'all. First Stevie Wonder performed and then Prince. Hello it was Prince! This was really a special night. My mom tells this story about twenty years ago she went to see Prince in concert in Oakland and he threw his drumstick out in to the crowd and she caught it. He didn't throw his drum stick but he did throw and amazing party. Everyone was there...

P Diddy, Jeremy Piven, Orlando Bloom, Javier Bardem, Rumer Willis, Rosario Dawson and even the Hyde gatekeepers Jen Rosero and Pamela Francesca made it out to enjoy Prince.

And now Promises...

HOW DID HOLLYWOOD DEAL WITH THE CANCELATION OF THE GOLDEN GLOBES?...

...They found another party to wear those beautiful gowns to... They always do! The Art of Elysium 10th Anniversary Gala. Now I saw some great dresses and some bad dresses. Nevertheless, Hollywood gets and A for effort. I of course did not make it - this fashion Guru stayed in. Well sort of. I took it easy and went to a dinner party,which also included a very, very fashionable crowd if I do say so myself. It turned into quite the busy weekend, but no need to name drop in this blog because if you scroll down and check out Jared Craft's blog you might find a few names on the floor. You're welcome.

Some of my favorite looks of the night - Ashley Olsen giving me goth chic in what looks like one Morticia Adams favorites, this long black dress, very soft, very comfortable, I think its from her own line The Row, paired with a belt, a black leather jacket by Rick Owens, a favorite with this crowd, and a roped black pearl necklace. Rumor Willis looked very beautiful and mature in this sleeveless silk chiffon gown by J Mendel, just a classic look with a 'lil punk chic added to it. Only just bordering on boring was Amy Smart in red...yes please! Racheal Bilson in this white Dior gown was looking classic, yet her hair style is leaving me wanting different. Also loved this Nina Ricci 2006 on Calista Flockheart, which I believe was also from Lars Nilsson's last NR collection right before Oliver Theyskens took helm.

The top of my Worst Dressed for this night was Patricia Arquette, who I still love in this wrong time, wrong place for a RED Sari. Now I love Rosario Dawson but something is a little off with the construction of this "Shannon cover your ears" Black velvet J. Mendel 2007 gown. And with Ali Larter in J Mendel 2008, well I didn't like the big rosette detail! Britney Snow oh no with that lace prom dress from Gucci Spring 2008 - maybe its just the way she wore it!... Hmm why am I so bitchy? Eew thats rude! You're welcome.

Well I'm tired of writing just as I'm sure you're tired of reading all about these crazy bitches and their dress up parties. Peace in the Middle East y'all.
